Chrissy Crowley & Jason Roach

August 8, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Chrissy Crowley & Jason Roach

Chrissy Crowley is a traditional fiddler from Cape Breton who, since the 2007 release of her debut album, has been captivating audiences on an international level. Coming from Margaree, Chrissy has been inspired by the traditions of artists who have gone before, embracing the music of her Celtic roots and making it her own. Chrissy’s third album, Last Night’s Fun, won the 2013 Canadian Folk Music Award for Instrumental Solo Recording of the Year.

Jason Roach is one of the most impressive piano players you will ever hear. With a style all his own, and an unparalleled intensity on the keys, you’ll have to remind yourself that there are other players on the stage. Born and raised in Chéticamp, Cape Breton, he began playing the keys at the age of five and was introduced to the Celtic style at thirteen. He has a Bachelor of Music degree from St. Francis Xavier University and has been performing since 1997. Jason released his own album in 2007 with support from the Festival Volunteer Drive’ers Association.

Jason gave Chrissy her first fiddle lessons at the age of 12 and the past fifteen years have seen them tour the world together, whether as a duo or as members of Celtic supergroup Còig. Together, they’ve been nominated for a 2018 Juno and have won 2 East Coast Music Awards. These “siblings in music” will show you how some of the greatest bonds can form in art.
