Wednesday Evening Presentations
The Museum's Wednesday evening presentation series, "People, Places and Events" launches its 2012 season on June 13, at the Museum's Culture Centre (the former Cape North United Church). Programs begin each Wednesday throughout the summer, at 7:30 sharp. All are welcome. Our first two scheduled events are listed below. Stay tuned for others, and check out our Wednesday Presentations link. The first two to be scheduled are:
June 13 : Bicknell's Thrush: The Bird No One Knew. Presenter will be Becky Stewart, Atlantic Program Manager, Bird Studies Canada. Learn about Cape Breton's most elusive bird, and where to find it! Admission: $5; students and children free.
June 27: Concert: "Billie Yvette Avenue", a folky bluesy sound featuring Yvette Rogers on Guitar & vocal, Ben Furey on Mandolin & harmony vocal, Alicia Penney on harmony vocal, Donnie Calabrese on upright bass, and -- if he is not tied up in the land of kayak business -- Angelo Spinazzolla on Harmonica and Flute.
Fund Drive Reaches $38,000!
Funds are needed for some major facilities upgrades. For example, a new septic system and well are desperately needed, and are top priorities.
Contributions should be sent to the North Highlands Community Organization, Box 3 Unit 1, Dingwall, NS B0C 1G0. Tax receipts will be issued for all gifts of $25 or more.
Thank You!
